31 children rescued from sex trafficking in Thailand


Multiple operations over the course of a single month led to the rescue of 31 children.

In addition to the children, six 18 and 19-year-old girls were also rescued from sexual exploitation. Though still plagued by some of the highest child trafficking in the world, the Thai government has worked hard to fight the problem, earning them an improved standing on the U.S. Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report last year. An international crime organization lured their victims with the false promise of a good job before locking them in a guarded compound and forcing them to work inhumane hours in a scam center.

The victims were confined, threatened and physically assaulted as they scammed victims for all they’re worth over time—a practice generally known as “pig butchering.” Some of the women were sexually abused.

Now, that nightmare is over. After helping free them, we aided local authorities in the repatriation process, ensuring the survivors returned home safely.
