Application of Funds

As much as possible of every dollar you donate is sent overseas to support our rescue and aftercare work on the ground in our project nations and to change lives for the better. The remainder (25% – 33%) is applied in New Zealand to enable our small staff to continue speaking up for the children we serve and increasing Child Rescue New Zealand’s impact here.

Funds sent overseas are controlled under a separate memorandum of understanding between the Child Rescue Charitable Aid Trust and each Destiny Rescue organisation in the project nation supported by the Trust. None goes to overseas Government organisations. Project nations are required to account to Child Rescue Charitable Aid trust for the use of funds on a regular basis.

Donate with Confidence

Child Rescue Charitable Trust and Child Rescue Charitable Aid Trust are registered New Zealand charities. Separate returns for each charity are filed each year with Charities Services which is a NZ Government organisation under the Department of Internal Affairs.

Do my donations qualify for a New Zealand charitable donation receipt so that I can use it to apply for a tax refund from I.R.D in New Zealand?

Yes. All charitable donations of $5.00 and over to Child Rescue New Zealand qualify for a New Zealand charitable donation receipt.

How are my funds applied?

We are grateful for your generosity. Child Rescue New Zealand is committed to using your donation in the most effective way possible. Donations that cannot be used for a particular project, due to over or under-funding, will be directed to the most urgent beneficiary needs in project nations supported by Child Rescue New Zealand. Contributions are solicited with the understanding that Destiny Rescue International directs Child Rescue New Zealand in the controlled use of all donated funds.

How do I know you are using my gifts wisely?

It is a humbling responsibility to know that every dollar counts and children are depending upon us. With this in mind, an all-volunteer board of Trustees monitors expenditures and sets policies, procedures, and budgets. Child Rescue New Zealand engages the services of a professional New Zealand Accountancy firm.
